Our Vision for Small Groups

Our small groups at LAC meet weekly throughout the fall through the spring months.  There are different groups based on location and stage of life and they usually meet in leaders' homes.

A typical night at a small group involves:

  • Connection - A time for getting to know one another and sharing life.

  • Study - A time for Bible study based on a topic your group picks.

  • Prayer - A time for sharing prayer requests and praying for those requests.

  • Refreshments - A time for snacks or a light meal and fun conversation.

Biblical Basis for Small Groups

Acts 2:41-47 (NIV)

41 Those who accepted his (Peter's) message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts (Large Group). They broke bread in their homes (Small Groups) and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

From one of our small group leaders from our 2021 Annual Report....

"If you're having a tough week, you need a Group!
If you're having a great week, the Group needs you!"

After a pause of 18 months due to Covid, our small group resumed meeting together in person on September 26, 2021. Our group remained largely intact and rejoiced to be in close fellowship once again. Some of the highlights of our group ministry are as follows:

  • The study topic for the fall has been viewing and discussing The Chosen series about the life of Jesus. We even got to attend a viewing of the Chosen Christmas special at a local theater.

  • We hosted a watch party to view the virtual online event – For All the World: A Night of Generosity featuring updates on Alliance Missions and inspiring testimonies.

  • Our group has adopted missionaries who have local ties to the area and have been able to join our small group in the past when on home assignment.

  • Celebrating the holidays such as Christmas and Easter with a small group family was special.

  • Serving our community such as Expectations Women’s Center, was rewarding.
